New MIDGII
unit offers both inertial measurements and GPS positioning.
Omni Instruments
now have available the new MIDG II unit, a GPS aided
Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) for use in applications requiring
attitude, position, velocity, acceleration and angular rates
for navigation or control.
The compact
and lightweight package is ideal for use with remote control
vehicles, UAV's, robots and ROV's, where a complete navigation
and INS system is required.
The Inertial
Navigation System provides measurement of full pitch, roll, yaw
rate and orientation, with heading reference to magnetic north
via the built-in magnetometer. The acceleration data is 3 axis
of X, Y and Z with the rate gyro and magnetometer also providing
triple axis data.
These signals
are processed using an external PC card to provide all orientation
rate and GPS position data in an ASCII readable format. Windows
software comes with the unit for configuration of the system
and for controlling data output to all external applications.
The MIDG II
unit measures just 38 x 40 x 22 mm, weighs under 55 grams and
is powered by a 10 to 32 VDC, 1.2W max supply.
